Overview
This brief case discussion discusses the role of human papillomavirus testing and available treatment options for patients with head and neck cancer.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- • Discuss appropriate management schemes for patients with locally advanced HPV-negative squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx, focusing on induction therapy and EGFR inhibition
- • Articulate the importance of HPV status and implications for treatment selection in patients with head and neck cancer
- • Evaluate clinical trial data on the use of combination regimens utilizing anti-EGFR and antiangiogenic agents plus cytotoxic agents as therapeutic options for patients with recurrent/metastatic head and neck cancer
- • Compare and contrast first-line and second-line therapeutic strategies for patients with recurrent/metastatic head and neck cancer
