Targeted Audience

This educational activity has been developed to provide medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, urologists, and other healthcare professionals with a comprehensive overview of recent advances in the management of prostate and renal cell cancers.

Statement of Educational Need

Recent clinical studies have provided data supporting new strategies for the management of prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma. Integration of new information and novel regimens into clinical practice is both challenging and necessary. As new information becomes available, it is essential that healthcare providers and researchers are kept abreast of advances in these fields. Improving Outcomes in Prostate and Renal Cell Carcinomas will discuss emerging data and provide updates that are relevant to clinicians who provide care to patients with prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • List therapeutic approaches to optimize outcomes for patients with advanced prostate cancer, including the importance of managing bone metastases
  • Compare and contrast traditional chemotherapies with novel chemotherapeutic agents in the management of patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer
  • Discuss the rationale and evaluate the clinical utility of biomarkers to guide the therapeutic decision-making process in patients with renal cell carcinoma
  • Describe current management strategies utilizing targeted therapies for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma based on prognostic risk stratification and toxicity-related issues
