Enlisting
the Immune System in the Management of Melanoma: Advances and Updatesis intended for medical
and surgical oncologists, dermatologists, researchers, and other healthcare
professionals interested in and/or involved in the care of patients with
melanoma.
Statement of Educational Need
As the rate at which clinical data is released increases and the number of therapeutic options being examined in clinical trials expands, practicing oncologists and dermatologists providing care for patients with melanoma struggle to stay abreast of these advances. In order for rapid clinical progress to have a direct and immediate impact on patients' lives, the latest findings must be made available in a format where they can be readily applied to practice. Providers require a resource to help them understand the latest advances in melanoma therapy and aid them in translating data into practical concepts in order to maximize clinical outcomes in the care of patients with melanoma.
Educational Objectives
After successfully completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:
Identify the settings in which specific immunotherapies are used for the management of melanoma
Explain the mechanism of immune tolerance and the rationale for immunotherapy in the treatment of melanoma
Describe clinical data regarding the use of specific immunotherapies in the management of melanoma in terms of associated efficacies, kinetics of response and adverse events so that implementation of these therapies is guided by expected outcomes
